Walking Shoes © Chris Falson, 2016, Leather Chair Songs I was walking in the woods What a glorious day I would walk on forever If I could find a way Everything I owned Or that once owned me I soon discarded There amongst the trees Won't you come walking Walking with me I’ll take you places Your eye has never seen  Don't no ticket No fancy wardrobe Put on your walking shoes Lets hit the road I was walking in the woods Breathing in the air With every step taken I'd lose another care And soon I was leaving A trail of junk behind All those things weighing So heavy on my mind Won't you come walking Walking with me I’ll take you places Your eye has never seen  Don't no ticket No fancy wardrobe Put on your walking shoes Lets hit the road I was deep inside in those woods Naked to the core And into a quietness I'd never known before I was so happy Living in the wild Finding such pleasures In the ways of a child Won't you come walking Walking with me I’ll take you places Your eye has never seen  Don't no ticket No fancy wardrobe Put on your walking shoes Lets hit the road

Farther Along Unknown Tempted and tried oh I often wonder
Why it should be this way all the day long
While there are others living around us
Not persecuted, though in the wrong
Farther along we’ll know more about it
Farther along this road we’ll understand why
Cheer up my brother and live in the sunshine
We’ll understand it all by and by Sometimes I wonder why I must suffer
Go out in the rain and the cold and the snow
While there are many living in comfort
Giving no heed at all to anything I do Farther along we’ll know more about it
Farther along this road we’ll understand why
Cheer up my brother and live in the sunshine
We’ll understand it all by and by Soon we will see Jesus, hmm my Savior
Hear the last trumpet sound through the skies
Then we will meet up all those love people Who have gone on before us
Then we will know and understand why Then we will know and we’ll understand why Then we will know and we’ll understand why Thank you Father

about

Dear friends and family, I have been working on a multi album project for some time and the first release is here, Song of the Maverick Saints.

I am doing a friends and family release here on Bandcamp as well a release it ‘into the wild’ on Spotify and Apple Music (etc) from June 28/2022 onwards.

I have made the BandCamp tracks free to download as a thank you for all your support and encouragement. However, if you wanted to contribute to the production of the next album in the cycle, you can name your own price, purchase the album and download the files to your computer.

About the Project:

There are times when I wish I had a ‘real job’… maybe as a mechanic, or a doctor, or a builder, or an electrician or plumber; some kind of profession that provided folk with good old fashioned practical help and guidance.

But alas, I am merely a songwriter, a traveling minstrel and all I have to offer those in need, is a song.

And in this hour I do have a song… well a whole collection of them… and together they form Song of the Maverick Saints, an album of Roots Gospel and Spiritual Songs for the ever growing community who, like me perhaps, find themselves living on the edge of the outside.

I have grown very fond of the unsophisticated and heartfelt recordings of Mississippi John Hurt, Ry Cooder and early Andre Crouch... and in a way, I have become their disciple. For there is, I believe, a soul connection in the sound of gospel in its purest form; when innocence and vulnerability overcome cleverness. It’s like the sound produced by friends sitting on a porch, singing and making music together.

The instruments used during these recordings were predominantly of an acoustic nature and thus, getting my hands back on my favorite old guitars, mandolin, dobro, banjo and Ukulele, then having my friends play their own 'old-world' instruments, was a lot of fun.

I hope, while listening to the songs that you get as much solace and peace, hope and joy as we did in writing and recording them.

Cheers

Chris
